very disappointing.I was expecting a lot more from this famous company!unfortunately it seems money is their object!the level 1 Pre k, was around 20 dollars and all it was a work book with the letters from a to z and really nothing well thought out to do with the letter.LETTER A make a letter A with celery and then eat them! seriously? hooked on phonics?so the whole colorful workbook is just pages with three letters on it.. nothing in that book teaches reading.just basic abcs, ok, then the story books they provide are VERY difficult, NO impossible for the kids to read unless they already know how to read a little, but this book will not teach them the reading skills to able to to read those book.so VERY bad book selection! did teaches actually select these books??
Unfortunately, I was thinking it would be similar to the original Hooked on Phonics. But, the revision of the program is much like that of other programs that do not seem to work as well as the original Hooked on Phonics.
I bot this an I still cannt reed are spill.
We have a three year old grandson and he now knows his alphabet forwards and backwards and can give us the letter and how they sound. When we start the DVD his face lights up. The music is great as it goes through the letters. He shows us the letters that are on the playing cards that come with the set as they are shown on the screen. He is learning at his own speed, he picked up the work book on his own and brought it over to us and explained the letters, the sound, and the word associated with each letter. He has expanded his vocabulary tremendously. OK Grandpa's and Grandma's, it is time for you to enjoy those kids as we have enjoyed ours in helping them learn and have fun at the same time. At three years old, he is ready to read. Enjoy.
You get a workbook, online games, DVD with lots of content, and 3 books. My kids are LOVING the hands on variety and are learning so quickly. We love this and plan to use all 8 levels!
The disc was defective and unfortunately we bought it more than 30 days ago (the return window) and didn’t open to find this out right away so we can’t get it replaced by Amazon. Also i wouldn’t recommend wasting the money on the disc because you can just view this program for free in the YouTube app on your TV (so far all i have found were defective so i guess it depends if you want to view the defective program for free or for a cost)
This does not appear to be a Level 1 packet. I would expect level 1 to have the blended sounds like b+eg = beg or a+t = at.This is advanced for a child who already knows how to read certain words. The old version of HOP is better.
I got this for my grandkids, ages 4, 3, and 1. I was using them on FaceTime to help them learn the sounds the letters make. Within the first day, even the one year old was making the M sound. Now the kids are identifying letters all around them.
