My mother passed away 3 years ago this December from what’s known as Lewy Body Dementia. This disease is not fun, it is a cross between Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. Lewy Body slowly erases memories as Alzheimer’s does while the Parkinson’s removes movement abilities.Because of my moms disease I’ve known diet affects the mind for a while, so I was thrilled to find this cookbook. It explains how diet affects your mind, certain foods that can aide in brain protection and foods that can aide in brain loss. Best described here is an excerpt “The diet is a combination of the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) and Mediterranean diet which were designed to focus on a dietary pattern that supports your brain health and function.”It talks about the ten brain super foods you should be eating andthe top 5 major brain no-no’s.Those of you who have read my other reviews know I’m a follower of the Ketogenic Diet, which has also been shown to aide in brain health as it was developed for people with epilepsy. However, I like this diet better and will switch over because YOU CAN EAT BREAD AND DRINK WINE! In fact, you are encouraged to drink one glass of wine a night! What’s not to love with that?!This was a great book with an excellent premise and I will certainly be trying some of these recipes out!

The food is good! I don't know that my mind is any more "there" at this point, but I've had more energy and I'm more regular.The start of the book goes over kind of the basics of keeping your brain healthy with nutrition. Then it gives a fourteen-day plan for using the cookbook. Here's the awesome thing about the way that the book is written: Plan in front, recipes in the back. Have you ever looked through a diet plan book and the days are set up within the book? It's confusing. Plus it gives you the opportunity to pick and choose a bit more. Obviously, you can do that with any cookbook, but then you have to read through everything at one time as opposed to a list where you can say "not for me".This is also the first cookbook that has the word "Diet" on it where I feel like it's being used to describe the food that you eat and not a diet that you are on. I don't know if that makes sense, but you can check out the book and see for yourself. The recipes are easy and mostly fast. I love it when a cookbook doesn't assume that I spend all day in the kitchen.

The Ultimate Guide to Prevent Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Cognitive Decline by Michelle Thomas not only contains many delicious recipes with easy to follow instructions, but it also has an informative section on maintaining brain and mental health and how to do so through diet. My dad lives with us and I can see how this diet would help to keep him healthier in mind and body, though I like the diet for myself because who am I to argue with drinking a glass of wine a day?!?! We tried the cinnamon apple quinoa bake and the pumpkin walnut pancakes, and tonight I am making the festival chicken stir-fry. So far every recipe we have tried has tasted amazing and even my toddler has loved it. This is definitely a great addition to my cookbook collection and I’m looking forward to trying more of the recipes. I’ll be implementing many of these recipes in the coming weeks.

I bought a couple of cookbooks that had gimmicks because I wanted to start cooking. Regular cookbooks just seemed too boring so that’s why this one stuck out. A cookbook focusing entirely on the mind seems interesting and beneficial. Surprisingly, there was a lot of information in the introduction. It discussed Alzheimer’s (an ailment that I am horribly afraid of) in significant detail. There is extensive scientific data to back up the claims. It’s crazy. The “mind” term is actually an acronym and I don’t remember what it was but the central idea is that the Mediterranean diet is the best. I had always heard of the benefits of the Mediterranean diet and it has always been popular. Now, it seems like there are even more benefits to it. Which is great since I love Mediterranean food. When you get to the actual recipes there is a profuse amount to choose from and I look forward to making them.

oh my goodness, this book saved my sanity! My OBGYN prescribed pemarin for my vaginal dryness, rawness, discharge and painful Intercouse. It did not help at all... I kept calling back to the office , they kept upping my usage of Premarin. I was miserable! Finally after 4 months of misery, I remembered reading this book years ago. I lost the book after several moves, So purchased the revised addition! I read it like a bible and picked the natural products that spoke to me. In '1' days time, I started to get relief! I am just in my 3rd week. My body is almost back to my pre peri menopausal self. I am so very thankful to have found this book. When I go back to my OBGYN in 2 weeks, I am taking this book and the products I am using, to educate her. Not all women can use the one size fits all Premarin.

I am more prepared and this Meno-thing is not going to be the end of me.I have already dog- eared pages that I return to over and over. Dr. Northrup not only gives you the science, she brings a great deal of humanity and personal enlightenment. (I recently picked up a smaller book, written by a male doctor. The tone was harsh compared to Dr. Northrup's approach.)Don't expect to read it cover-to- cover. Read the first part, definitely, then review the Table of Contents and take what applies to your situation. This is the most complete and empathetic information I've seen so far. It is a big book. It has to be, she has a lot to teach. She shares the good news that (SPOILERS) we'll come through the other side more bad-ass and self assured than we imagined.So, yes, I need this manual and I'll recommend it to all my sisters beginning this journey.

The second book of Vali’s series is as good as the first. The serial killer from the first book is in jail but the murders continue with slight differences. Sept, NOPD Detective, daughter and sibling of a cop family is up to her neck in murder. Keegan, her girlfriend, chef, and daughter of a NOLA restaurant dynasty is up to herneck in Sept. A few surprises in this book and if you have been to New Orleans you’ll recognize some of the sites. Keegan’s family restaurant reminds me of the Commanders Palace, a famous old dining place in the city with .10 cent martinis 🍸 (limit of three per customer), the best food in town, and perfect service. Across the street is St. Louis Cemetery #1, the first built in New Orleans and, I think, is used in the story also. I enjoyed it and you will too (warning - the details can be gruesome).

This was a great read! Suspense, mystery and some passion thrown in makes for some exciting reading. Ali Vali is one of my favorite writers and I buy everything she writes. I must say, I'm rarely disappointed. Sept and Keegan make a great couple and it was nice to see their relationship progressing. If you like intrigue and can handle some pretty gruesome murders this is the book for you-If you can't handle the grittiness, I say try to skip through those parts. The sequel did not disappoint. Can't wait for the audio version to come out.

I have been a Cain and Emma fan since book one. But I do believe Sept and Keegan are up their with them now. I loved the suspense, mystery and passion in this storyline. I had an ideal of who I thought the killer was but I was double shocked at the end😂 Ali killed with all the characters...they had their parts to play in the story. Thank you Ali for a great adventure. I definitely recommend this book.

I must say that I love this author and have read quite a bit of her stuff but this book is beyond great. I love how the characters continue to grow from the first one; although it would have been nice to see what happened with Erica. And I really enjoyed the fact that she brought in characters from her other books. Another great ending that I definitely didn’t see coming. I hope this series continues to grow although I’m not sure how many serial killers one cop can face.

This book demands your full attention, if not you're going to miss something or get frustrated trying to keep things in order. Which is how Sept, the NOPD AND FBI felt about these serial kills. The ending is so twisted cause like a jaws movie, as soon as you thought it was safe to go in the water, you hear the music and *BAM*! someone gets killed or hurt. Like most I only had it partially figured out but herein lies the brilliance of Ali Vali. You just have to read this book for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Happy Reading

I loved Answering the Call. WOW! Mystery, Intrigue, Love and Romance all wrapped up in one book. The ending is freaky and scary. Thanks for letting Cain Casey and Annabel Hicks help with the case. I can’t wait for the audio edition.

The second book in this series is just as good as the first. It keeps you on your toes I couldn't put this book down. I enjoyed learning more about Sept and Keegan's relationship. Read the series!

Answering The Call was another exciting book by Ali Vali! It’s very suspenseful with a great love story, colorful characters and a fabulous story line! Highly recommend it and can’t wait for more books in the Casey family and friends stories!
