This book has been around for 20+ years and is mostly photographs taken in late 1970's and early 1980's. Much has changed in the ensuing 25 years. Many of the buildings have since been repainted, as in the Carlyle featured on the cover. Some, as with the graceful St Moritz, have been restored (today it looks much different, and better, then in this book's photograph). Best of all this book documents some things that are no longer there as in the wonderful photos of the Tiffany murals, the old Cinema Theatre interior. and the demolished Sands Hotel.The book is broken up into chapters based on architectural details (Facades, Doorways, Materials, etc). The text is well written and gives one a good grounding in the Miami Beach Deco architectural style. Best of all it is filled with wonderful photographs. A great historical record of a time when the Art Deco District had just been formed.

Gave this book to a friend who grew up on Miami Beach & he was delighted.

Love Art Deco AND Florida, so this was perfect for me.

I have the first edition and was looking for photos of the current look of Miami Beach. This was simply the same pictures I had ordered it for a gift since my friend is going to Miami Beach and loves Deco. I was hoping to have a book of the current look of the historic buildings....maybe they are all painted just the same as 25 years ago - I'm going to go also and will see. With that said I love the book but will not need to order me another one to go with the first edition!

I found this book years ago at the Delray Beach library. It had been checked out so many times that it was in pretty ragtag shape. I decided to order my own copy just so I could gaze at deco whenever I wanted to. This book is a fantastic primer for anyone interested in Miami. Read this book and then take it with you on the Miami art deco tour; you will be that much more prepared to appreciate the tour and prepared to ask questions to your knowledgeable tour guide.

El libro es una obra maestra, es atrapante, tiene una narración muy fluida y tal vez lo único difícil sean los nombres, pero le doy un 100.Sin embargo la versión a veces pareciera que fue escaneada, tiene muchos errores en las palabras, por ejemplo una ó sale como 6 o una í como una l y a veces hay frases separadas. Amazon debería revisar estas versiones ya que se está pagando por ellas.

Una genial obra recomendada para leer. No la recomiendo para adolescentes por la crudeza del mismo. La leí por recomendaciones generales pero nada me previno de lo genial que es esta obra.

Una gran novela. Lo encargué simplemente porque fue recomendado por Amazon de casualidad... Hace poco tiempo que estoy leyendo y no sabía que libro comprar... Luego de investigar sobre el autor un poco recién me decidí por encargar este libro. Venía yo de leer libros muchos más cortos, por eso al principio éste me pareció muy largo, pero eso es debido a mi falta de ritmo. La lectura es muy interesante.

I just downloaded this book and I can hardly put it down. I am taking a few minutes to review it and I am in awe I am just starting in golf and I wish that I had read this book before my golf lessons because I would have known what questions to ask my instructor. This book has loads of information in it I am not finished reading but I would recommend this book to anyone interested or beginner golfer

Lots of good information in here, again sometimes golf advice varies from one author to another but it gives you some stuff to look at

Alot of helpful hints and basic knowlege for the golfing newbie.

My son purchased a set of golf clubs at a garage sale for $5, and this book has made a new sportsman out of him. I coouldn't answer all his questions about golf and this book can and DOES help even a 16 year old understand.
