A few years ago I came across this book in the public library. Since moving to an area much closer to the New Madrid fault line, I was reminded of this book. It is the story of a notable event in our country's history, but the part where the steamship is caught in the middle of the great earthquake on the Mississippi-Missouri Rivers gave a realistic view of that earth-shaking event. I am always amused by the illustrations by Glen Rounds. I really enjoy reading this easy-to-read account of a well-known happening in our nation. Though written for young people, it was nonetheless helpful to me as an adult.
